Happy Mother's Day!

What is a mom ? Someone who is always there, someone you can trust . Someone who continues to give love under the most difficult circumstances... Or is it someone that...
Can Function with 6 hours of sleep..
Can plan a college class after 8 hours of work, and 2 hours of homework?
Can juggle 3 appts ,work for 5 hours of work, go to the mall , pick up dinner , attend a concert ,  and walk the dog all in one day?
Before I was a mom  I would have done only half of this, but now it is no big deal for me.  What about you?

Happy Mothers Day!
(On Mother's Day pray to our Blessed Mother for all mothers in the world and those that wish to be.)

SLEEPOVERS

Sleepover

What is it with this culture and the eternal sleepover?  Where does this originate? I remember 1 or two sleepovers in my whole youth. My parents were not fond of them, and when I went as an adult I could never sleep, too uncomfortable around other people, could not relax.

Our girls get invited to sleepovers and American parents let their kids do this all the time.  We need to know the parents, the family and the girls that are coming over. Granted I don't know very many people here in Middleton very well, yet it seems to be that either everyone knows each other, or they don't care if their children sleepover at someone's house all the time.  Now, don't get me wrong, I want my girls to socialize and let their friends come over.  But even that sometimes gets burdensome.  Are people so unsatisfied with their living situation they need to stay at someone's house all the time, even to sleep. Growing up we had friends that use to come over.  But they hardly ever slept over. Only on special ocasions, my 15th birthday party was one of those.

Maybe someone can explain it to me.  Why is the sleepover so important in this culture?

Jack

On May of last year a very generous lady gave us one if her dogs. The girls had been wanting a dog for a while and we were looking. We could not afford one and this was a pleasant surprise. Jack has been a great addition I would say, especially for me, who needed a bit od exercise and company other than the girls . He was not what they expected what he does not have in beauty he has in tolerance!

Holidays

We spent Xmas with my parents and the in laws . Went to church with Otin ,my youngest sister, and her family. Our gifts to the girls were very small and were given to them between events. My mother in law surprised them with  Ice skates! They were all very excited to use them and they have used them many times now. In this day and age or is difficult to compete with all the 'haves' around us but to us Xmas will always be about family. I am grateful for all we have and the more blessings we will receive this year. Happy new year! Thank you grandma Martin!

Comeback

I have not posted for a while. It was becoming a chore and also, I wasn't sure what to say anymore. Every time I would get in my computer it seemed I had other things that were more important . The truth is that I have been reflecting quite a bit in how I get things done, and realizing that somehow along the way I have been an avoider. I knew about this in regards to some conflict situations and know that I am an avoider sometimes when there is a situation that might lead to conflict. However it seems that there are others as well. I realized I avoided writing I the blog because this journey with the girls has been so hard at times, I avoided bit reflecting about it, but looking only at its positive aspects and not including the yucky parts of it. I am in a better place now, mostly because I have come to terms with some things, let go of others and given my my life to my faith which even though is at time difficult to persevere(  especially  when everyone else in the house does not share it) has given me the strength needed . I have also to thank my mother, she is a true modern saint. She is the person I usually turn to and I know that she is praying for us constantly.

The other reason is because I look at  blogs and see how exciting things people post. About travel and such. Our lives are very ordinary! Either way here are some pictures! Happy new year!
