One year anniversary

Today marks the one year anniversary of becoming a family. It seems like yesterday we saw a group of girls crossing a street in Medellin. Our hearts melted as we saw these beautiful girls come into our lives.

It is fun to see some before and after pictures.  The girls have changed so much since that day, so have we.  It is amazing how fast kids grow.  Sometimes I feel a sense of urgency, to spend as much time as possible now, since we missed so much of their life before.  Even looking at the faces is amazing to see the growth and changes...

Sucena, February 2011

So today started like the last couple of Saturdays around here.  In the morning I took Yesica and Sucena to tumbling class. Sucena had been there two times and I finally convinced Yesica to join. The teacher is great and she did fine, not as big of a risk taker as Sucena but nevertheless gives it her best.

After that we had a special day planned for the girls. We started by going to Build a Bear workshop where the girls designed a special Build a Bear for their first year with us.
Then it was on to Badger bowl for bowling with the Brown cousins and having greasy bowling alley food.
A couple of the girls played Air Hockey too.  We stopped by the Browns and took some pictures outside with their bears. Then we took them to see the movie Rio (which I loved!) .  I think the pictures speak louder than words.  The girls came home and put their 'babies' to bed.  Even the older ones did this.  The girls were very happy and grateful for the day.  It was a beautiful day.

  1. Happiest of anniversaries to all six of you. What an amazing year. Despite all the ups and downs, I'm sure you can look back on this year and simply marvel at how much they have grown, and how you have changed. You are the parents of four wonderful daughters, who are well on the road to independent happy lives. We send our love, congratulations, and admiration. Love, Tom and Margaret
