Alex

Our poor Alex has had a tough year so far in terms of his health.

Back in April when we moved to the house, Alex had an accident an ended up snapping his bicep muscle.  I guess it is a very common thing for a man his age, we were told.  However, this meant surgery, and having to do therapy to get his arm back to normal.  This took weeks.

Alex also went to the emergency room because he had an ear infection.  When he went to get his ear checked out (it ended up 'swimmers ear'), they found he had high blood pressure and put him on blood pressure medication.  He was not so happy about that, but it was necessary.

Then Alex had had a hernia that he had for years and wanted to take care of.  He had waited until things 'had settled down' around here with the girls.  The problem was that the hernia was beginning to portrude more and more.  The doctor said that it was time to fix it.  So he did. At the end of last month, Alex had his hernia surgery.  This meant that he could not lift too much.  The surgery wiped him out.  It took days for him to recuperate.

A couple of weeks ago, Alex was playing soccer with Sucena.  He like to play hard of course, and did something to his ankle.  He went in to have it looked at and it ended up that he had sprained his ankle.  That was last week.

This week Alex went to Upwham Woods with Yesica. He came home in the afternoon and went straight to work so I did not see him.  Last night he asked me to see something in the back of his arm.  When I looked it was a dead tick.  It was totally embedded into his skin, there was an ugly bruise and it looked pink around it.  We then called a nurse and she tried to guide me to take the head of the tick out but I could not.  So we ended up in the Emergency Room again.  I did not want to go to UW hospital after the horrible experience I had there with the girls, but since it is the closest hospital we ended up there.  There was only one resident in charge and so we were there for 3 hours.
I had woken up at 5 the morning before, so I had been awake 22 hours.  I was exhausted.
Alex got antibiotics to prevent Lyme disease, and had to head of the tick taken out by the doctor.

Needless to say there has been stress over his health, which has caused stress in the family.  I hope that this is it, and he will be healthier.

As for me, I have been healthy, and the only thing that is wrong, is a bad haircut I received from a lady at Supercuts.  This is recurring issue in this country with my natural curly hair.  No one knows how to cut it or style it.  It is very frustrating.

Please say a prayer today for Alex.  May God heal him and keep him healthy.
