Strange week

This has been a strange week.  It started with a call from my friend Lisa last Sunday that her husband had been in accident and was in a coma.  Lisa has been my best friend for over 20 years. Her and I keep in touch, and we have a special friendship. When she told me about her husband it was shocking. The week started crazy with all the talk about Gov. Walker (Scott) (who by the way I met many years ago in my house when he was at Marquette), budget.  On Tuesday I found out Sucena's teacher, who is almost ready to retire was not coming back for the rest of  the week. Wednesday we had school and found out at night, that it had been cancelled again. I changed the clock in the girls room so they could sleep more, but they got up at 6:30 anyway. .  I called Maica, Yesica and Sucena's teacher to find out that Yesica had been hiding her Math materials from us becuase she did not want to study for a test.  We were furious, since this is not the first time that Yesica has done this.  She will do this when she does not want to study.  Even though she will tell her teachers she likes school, she does not.  Except for the days they don't study.  Those are favorite days.  She complains about school constantly and has not made very many friends.
Needless to say we are concerned about her school and her adjustment there, although Yesica can be very difficult at times. ( I will write about her another day).
On Wednesday  too a parent from my school who is a friend and was extremely supportive of the adoption, called me to say she was going through a divorce and her husband had taken all the money with him. Then to find out that was cancelled on Thursday and  now cancelled for tomorrow. People here feel oppresed by the governor. In all my yearsof teaching here I have never seen anything like this. What is he thinking? Alex was able to make throughto work near the Capital  to put in  a few hours of work and tomorrow he will be Mr. Mom . Today Maria took care of our two oldest and the other two went to Kids Junction , Yesica and Sucena's After School Day Care (love that place, just wish we had more money).
So to end the week, I just talked to Lisa to find out her husband passed away today.  Tomorrow Liz Olderman a friend from Green Bay will be here, but we will go to MKE for Bruce's memorial service.
Lisa is in a little bit of shock, I think.  We had just seen Bruce over the holidays because he wanted to meet the girls. He was a good man and a good husband and father.  May he rest in peace.
