We're Home!!!

We made it!!
The girls are excited about all the new things and their grandparents were wonderful about having a meal ready for us when we arrived. They also set up the condo with balloons and other welcoming decorations.
Ginny, Kevin, Julia and Anna met us at the airport to deliver our car to us and to give us a warm welcome. The greeting was wonderful, but we realized we made a mistake. We forgot to tell everyone on my side of the family some things about Hispanic culture. People tend to greet each other with a kiss on the cheek. We forgot to tell Ginny (Julia and Anna) this so there was an awkward moment at the airport. Hopefully everyone will get past this shy, awkward time quickly and get down to getting to know each other. The language may not be the only thing to bridge, and we have to remember that the customs we are familiar with may not be familiar to others.
It was nice for us to be back in familiar territory and not be so dependent upon others for everything, but we also have to remember how new this all is to the girls. The weather cooperated with us and provided us with a day of sunshine and 70s temperatures. Tomorrow is supposed to be in the 90s. We called the PAC and their outdoor pool will be open but not the Dolphin's Cove. The best fun will have to wait until after Memorial Day.
The afternoon was a blur to me. We ate a wonderful dinner, we introduced the girls to their new home and even had time to play at the nearby park (I love the long sunshine days of late spring and summer). The girls went to bed late but it would have been difficult to put them to bed any earlier because they had too much excited energy to sleep . Tomorrow it's an introduction to their Rivera cousins and the club pool. It will be interesting to see how we do in crowded pool and with meeting other cousins in person.

  1. Welcome home! It sounds like it was a bit of an ordeal to finally get here, but we're so glad you're back in Wisconsin with all 6 of you in tow.
Sam already wrote Ginny this, but it is too sweet not to repeat. Our neighbor was sitting with Sophie one day last week while Sam and I attended a coach's end of the year party. Barbara, our neighbor, saw the pictures we have of the girls hanging on a wall, and she asked Sophie who they were. Sophie said, "They're my 4 new cousins!"
We can't wait to see all of you. It may not be until Christmas, but that gives you some time to settle in. We'll be sure to kiss each of you on the cheek! We do have some gifts we plan to send this week.
Welcome home to all of you- Alex, Mercedes, Milena, Mirellen, Yesica, and Sucena!
    Love,
Aunt Telia, Uncle Sam, and Sophie
