Another day closer to going to Colombia. It's less than a week and there's still stuff left to do. We are bringing copies of all our documents just in case (plus electronic versions). We have the phone that I used in Mexico last year (I had lent it to an Edgewood student, thanks Michelle, and she just returned last week from Mexico) that is from a company that also serves Colombia. We will tell you our number when we get to Colombia. This company installs a new chip anytime you want to change numbers or go between countries. We need a new number for Colombia, the Mexican number will not work. We have contacted banks, mail service and health care providers so we they will not be surprised by any transactions from a foreign country. We are still waiting for details from our agency about how and when payments in Colombia are to take place.
I am also trying to get some tan color on my skin before going because I don't want to burn. Medellin is the altitude of Denver. Bogota is about 8600 ft. Mix a tropical sun and high altitude and our skin will definitely need extra protection. It will be the rainy season there so that will help some.
It is hard to imagine what is going through the minds of the girls. They are as excited as we are. They sound wonderful on the phone. It's hard to explain all of what I am feeling. Gotta go practice more Spanish.
Adios
