Wednesday Call

On Wednesday we called the girls again. We had a difficult time getting through. The phone there is only set for a few minutes, and the girls must know when the time is up because they would say 'the call is going to end' or something like that before we would loose the call. The staff there is supposed to set it up so this doesn't happen, but that is not always the case. Ginny (Alex's sister) was here with Julia and Ana (daughters). We had asked them to come because the girls kept asking about their 'primos y primas'. Previoulsy they had asked if they lived close, far etc. We are trying to get family to come here to talk to them. Next week I think my sister Otin is going to come so the girls can talk to their other cousins. The girls are getting a little more desperate for us to get there. They don't understand how the system works, and how we have to stay with them in an apartment there for a month. That this is part of the process. This week they told us they are off school this week because of Holy Week. Mary Sucena our youngest, talked a little more this time. We asked her if she wanted to come and live with us she said "Hace Rato" a long time ago. Alex asked her if she knew how to cook she said no.. he asked her if she liked 'arepas' (typical food from Colombia similar from tortillas), she said no, then I asked if she liked 'dulces' (candy or sweets). She said very loudly "me encantan" ( I love them). We asked the girls if they knew how to swim. It seems the oldest knows how, but we will have them take classes regardless. They were happy to hear that the place we were going to be staying at had a pool. Mary Sucena said to this "Hay, Gracias A Dios" (Oh, Thank God!). Very funny.
We are very busy these days getting ready. So that you know, we are not allowed to post pictures of the girls yet until our adoption is finalized. So even when we are in Colombia we will not be posting any pictures probably until we are ready to come home. We will take pictures but post them later. We must follow the law, that's the way it is.
Alex is feeling a little sick today and I am going to church.
Have a blessed Good Friday.--MM
