Tonight--only 8 days to go

We called the girls tonight. My parents and my sister Otin came together with her kids to talk to the girls. Otin's kids (Veronica, Angelina and Vini) practiced what they were going to say in Spanish and then said it to them. Milena said that she understood everything she told Vini she also likes Math and she likes to Study. Yesica asked us how much longer until we got there... I had her count the days with me. Milena told us that they were giving them a 'good-bye' party at the botanical gardens of Medellin. I can't imagine what they must be going through... To leave the friends they've had for two years.. and come live with us! Mirellen said "I can't wait to meet you in person". She seems the most serious also calling me very respectfully 'Senora' (sorry don't know how to put the ~ here in this computer!). At first I thought it was quite formal, but honestly I like it. These are very respectful and polite girls. I'll take that any day! Veronica talked to the girls and said she liked horses. Angelina explained how she had a crazy dog named Spy. We also talked to Mary Sucena for a little bit. She has the hardest time on the phone listening and understanding on the phone. But she always says something funny. The girls are very good at letting us know they must go to sleep, 30 minutes goes by very fast. Vini also told the girls that they will have fun when they come here.

For us, we cannot believe we are only 8 days away from meeting the girls. We have waited for this moment for seventeen years, but it seems as if time does not matter anymore. The time is here and we are happy, grateful and humbled by the amazing, marvelous and miraculous opportunity to become parents. We know it's a hard job, we have heard this from all of you. As Morrie said in "Tuesdays with Morrie": There is no experience like having children...If you want the experience of having complete responsibility for another human being, and to learn to love and bond in the deepest way, then you should have children." We are looking forward to this..
